Buying Unitech is buying a property worth 3.5 lacs for 2 lacs. Does not appears to be that much attractive as HDIL. Face value of unitech is 2 i.e face value of unitech of 10 is currently available at 100 whereas hdil is available at 63. Book value of unitech is 35 currently available at 21 whereas book value of HDIL is 235 currently available at just 63. At march 11 profitability unitech EPS is 2 ; P/E 10 whereas HDIL EPS is 22; P/E 3. Further dispute of Telenor In uninor may have the effect of eroding more than 1000 crore from unitech & Unitech along with promoters involved in 2G scam which may have the effect of criminal liability & penalties. This problem is not only a headache for unitech & promoters but shareholders also whereas in HDIL there is small problem of liquidity which can be sorted out by sale of some parcels of land or hiving of non core assets like hotel project. The differences are endless. On the top of it if the BSE sensex improves to say 1500 points unitech can rise in the range of 50% to 60% but in case of HDIL the scope of rise can be as high as 70% to 150% +. I can say HDIL is Gold whereas unitech is like silver...
